The family history in the home improvement business began when Walter Black and a partner began the Black and Fuller Roofing Co. in 1933. The business grew amazingly fast, and by 1935, they were selling and applying over 600 roofs a year in the Pacific Northwest.
Walter Black ran the business until 1949 when his brother-in-law, Harold A. Smith, bought the Company from him. Since the Company now offered many more services besides roofing, he took the name Home Improvement Co. to reflect the broadness of their skills. Harold A. Smith was able to double the size of the Company by the time he retired in 1966.
His son, Richard H. Smith (Dick), took over in 1971. He changed the name to our present title, the R.H Smith Co., because he focussed for many years on commercial remodeling, not home improvement.
In recent years, he and his son, Harold A. Smith (Hal), have returned to the original family focus of home exterior remodeling, although we still do commercial work. Hal is now the President and CEO of the R.H. Smith Co and has run the business for the last several years. His younger brother, Rich, is the Sales Manager.
Because of our long-standing reputation, we were chosen to handle installed services for large chains - such as the Sears, HomeBase, and Costco stores.
Our family believes in running a business to last. Our goal is to do work with the utmost professionalism - resulting in a completely satisfied customer. And we have the best warrantees in the business! Over the years we have helped literally thousands of local home owners improve and protect their homes.
We hope you will trust your exterior remodeling projects to the R.H. Smith Co.
Our family has been in the Exterior Remodeling Business since 1933. During that time we have consistently offered quality exterior remodeling services to the Pacific Northwest.
